Mass. hometown with a broken arm earlier this week. Rivera was supposed
to face off against Alessio Sakara, but will instead have to wait and
heal.
According to
MMAJunkie.com,
Gerald Harris has verbally agreed to face off against the hard hitting
Sakara at UFC 118 and is expected to sign the bout agreement shortly.
Gerald Harris (17-2) is currently riding a
ten-fight win streak and is one of the hottest fighters in the sport
right now. Harris has gone 3-0 under the UFC banner since making his
debut this past January. Harris most recent win came over David Branch
on the UFC 116 preliminary card. Branch made the mistake of using a
closed guard against Harris and was slammed flat on his back, sending
his head flying off of the Octagon canvas.
The knockout slam made Sportscenter’s “Top 10 Plays” highlight reel
and opened the eyes of many fans, who did not know about Harris. Harris
was a contestant on the Ultimate Fighter season 7, but was submitted by
Amir Sadollah in the opening round. Harris earned his way back into the
UFC by knocking out former WEC product Nissen Osterneck in a Shark
Fight event in only :46 seconds last year.
Harris will face his stiffest test when he faces off against the
hard hitting Italian Alessio Sakara at UFC 118. Sakara has now won
three straight bouts since moving down to the division in 2008 and is
coming off of a knockout win over James Irvin at UFC on Versus 1.
