Quinton Rampage Jackson vs Lyoto Machida at UFC 122 on Nov. 23

Several fans were upset when it appeared a bout between former light
heavyweight champions Lyoto Machida and Quinton Rampage Jackson for UFC
119 had fallen apart. According to a report earlier in the week Rampage had turned down the bout with Machida, but it appears he may have just turned down the date of the event due to timing.

is reporting that Quinton Rampage Jackson and Lyoto Machida have both
verbally agreed to face off on November 20, at UFC 122, which has
already been rumored to be in Germany. MMAWeekly.com first reported the potential bout.
Quinton Rampage Jackson (30- returned to the
Octagon at UFC 114 after a fifteen month absence that included coaching
on the Ultimate Fighter season 11, a leading role in the A-Team movie
and an early retirement.
Jackson lost to his arch nemesis Rashad Evans by decision after
being taken down on several occasions and being rocked early in the
opening minute of the bout. Rampage was almost able to pull off a come
from behind win, but was unable to finish Evans after rocking him with
a big punch.

Lyoto Machida (16-1) was knocked out in his title
fight against Mauricio Shogun Rua at UFC 113, which snapped his 16
fight losing streak and cost him the light heavyweight belt. Machida
appeared to be an unstoppable force before facing off against Rua at
UFC 103, where many observers felt he was lucky to pull off a decision
victory that could have gone the other way.
In their rematch bout, Machida was able to land two solid takedowns
on Rua, but was unable to keep him on the ground and negate his
striking. Both times Rua also stood back up with relative ease after
frustrating Machida in his guard. After getting back up the second time
Machida was knocked out, ending what was dubbed as “the Machida era”.
This should be the main event bout at UFC 122 if the card takes
place in Germany as suspected and could also be a free card on Spike,
but it is still too early to tell.
