According to MMAJunkie.com, is reporting that a source close to the promotion has informed them of the potential bout for September 25, at the Conseco Field House, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Sean Sherk (33-14) has not fought in over a year, when he lost to Frankie Edgar by unanimous decision at UFC 98. Sherk was supposed to return on the cursed UFC 108 fight card against Rafaello Oliviera, but was forced off the card with a injury.
Evan Dunham (11-0) has quietly went 2-0 in the UFC, until defeating top contenders Efrain Escudero and Tyson Griffin in back-to-back bouts. Dunham defeated Tyson Griffin at UFC 115 by unanimous decision, in dominating fashion over his Xtreme Couture teammate.
This bout should be a big test for Dunham and a even bigger test for Sherk. Dunham will attempt to prove his two recent wins are no fluke and he is a serious contender. Sherk will be attempting to prove he can hang with the UFC’s always improving, young lightweight fighters.
